Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data Semi.global ("we", "us", "the site") collects when you visit semi.global, why we collect it, and the choices and rights you have. Semi.global is a semiconductor industry intelligence dashboard aggregating public pricing data, news, and company information. Access is currently limited to invited members, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers.
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller for this site is:
Contact: privacy@semi.global
2. What we collect
We collect the minimum data needed to keep the site working and, only if you consent, to understand how visitors use it.
2.1 Strictly necessary — always on
A single cookie remembers your cookie preference so we don't ask again on every visit. This cookie doesn't identify you personally and isn't used for tracking.
2.2 Membership requests and member accounts
Semi.global is currently open to invited members. If you request access, we store what you enter in the request form: first and last name, work email, company, company type, and, if you provide them, job title, country, areas of interest and a note. We use these details only to review your request and reply to you, and we receive a copy by email.
If your request is approved, we keep your name, email, company and a securely hashed password
(never the password itself) so you can sign in. A first-party cookie, sd_auth,
keeps you signed in. If your request is declined, we delete it.
To protect member accounts and keep access personal, we record each sign-in attempt: the time, the account, whether it succeeded, a shortened version of your IP address (the last part is removed), and your browser type. We also keep a list of the browsers you're currently signed in on (up to two). We use this only to spot misuse, such as password guessing or shared logins.
Members can send anonymous feedback using the button in the bottom-right corner. We store only what you write, the type of feedback, an optional rating, the section of the site you were on and the date. We don't store who sent it, your IP address or the time of day, so feedback can't be linked back to you. To stop the same account sending large amounts, we keep a daily count per account that is stored separately from the feedback and deleted after two days.
We don't share these details with anyone or use them for marketing.
2.3 Analytics — only if you opt in
If you click "Accept All" or enable Analytics in Cookie Settings, we load Google Analytics 4 (GA4), operated by Google Ireland Limited. It collects:
- Pages viewed and time spent on the site
- Approximate location derived from your IP address (typically country/city level — Google Analytics does not report full IP addresses back to us)
- Device, browser, and operating system type
- Referring site or search engine that brought you here
Nothing in this category loads until you actively opt in — the tracking script itself doesn't execute beforehand.

4. Legal basis for processing
Under the GDPR, we rely on:
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) for Google Analytics — you can withdraw this at any time (see Section 6).
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) for the details you submit in the membership request form, which you give by ticking the consent box. You can withdraw it at any time and we'll delete your request.
- Performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)) for member accounts and the sign-in cookie, which are needed to give you the access you asked for.
- Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) for sign-in records, which protect member accounts against misuse.
- Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) for the strictly necessary consent cookie itself, which exists solely to honor your choice and doesn't require separate consent under the ePrivacy Directive.
5. Third-party processors and international transfers
Google Analytics is provided by Google Ireland Limited. Data may be processed on servers located outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Google provides Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as a safeguard for these transfers. You can read Google's own privacy terms at policies.google.com/privacy.
6. Your choices and rights
You can change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time using the cookie icon in the bottom-left corner of the site, which reopens the Cookie Settings panel.
If you are in the EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with similar protections, you have the right to:
- Access the data we (or our processors) hold about you
- Request correction or deletion of that data
- Restrict or object to processing
- Request data portability
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that already happened lawfully before withdrawal
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@semi.global. Since analytics data is collected by Google on our behalf under your consent, you can also manage or delete it directly via your Google Account privacy settings.
7. Data retention
Membership requests are kept until we've reviewed them and are deleted when declined, or when they become part of your member account if approved. Sign-in records are deleted after 90 days. Member account details are kept while you're a member and deleted when you ask us to remove your account.
Analytics data is retained by Google Analytics for 14 months from collection before automatic deletion, per GA4's default retention setting. The consent-preference cookie is stored in your browser for up to 180 days, after which you'll be asked again.
8. Children's privacy
Semi.global is a B2B industry information resource and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
9. Changes to this policy
If what we collect or why changes, we'll update this page and, where the change is material, prompt you to review your cookie preferences again the next time you visit.
10. Contact
Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to privacy@semi.global.
